Science Week May 2024

SCIENCE WEEK: The children enjoyed spending the week focussing on science and completing different experiments. They were fully engaged and have completed some really amazing science learning – it has been a fantastic week!

We welcomed Hannah (an Environmental Scientist) and Abi (Physicist – electromagnetics) from The National Physical Laboratory in to talk to the children in Years One and Two about what a scientist does. The children asked some excellent questions and were amazed by some of the facts and tricks they were shown – who knew that chicken poo can make electricity! Thank you to Oliver’s mum in Yellow Class and Mrs Martin for organising this.

On the final day, the school was taken over by scientists, with the children dressing up as scientists and learning that not all scientists wear a white coat! Ms Patel lead an assembly, celebrating and sharing the work completed through the week.

It was fabulous to see all the marble runs that children made at home and we all really enjoyed watching them on Tapestry. It was a challenge selecting one winner per class (and we wish we could have given extra prizes to our very enthusiastic parents who participated). Nevertheless, the results of the competition are in, and the children were presented with their prizes this morning. Well done to:

Martina- Red class; Elara – Lilac Class; Kenolee- Orange class; Can- Green class; Olivia – Yellow Class; Keith- Pink class; Helena- Turquoise class; Adam- Purple class

Thank you very much to Ms Patel for leading the week and to all the teachers for organising such exciting activities in their classrooms – everyone had such a great time!
